A thick layer of real 14k yellow gold over a core of quality jeweller's brass. This piece is 14k yellow gold thick-plated (highest quality) on brass — the heaviest plating we use. It gives you the look and weight of gold at a gentler price, and it asks for a little more care than our gold filled pieces.

Both start with real 14k gold. On our gold filled pieces the gold layer is thicker again and bonded under heat and pressure, which is why those can be worn in the shower and the sea. This piece is thick-plated instead, so the gold sits on the surface. Lovely to wear — just keep it dry.

A little, yes. Because the gold sits on the surface rather than being bonded through, take it off before swimming, and keep it away from perfume, lotion and harsh cleaners. Store it somewhere dry when it's resting.

We wouldn't recommend this one. The base metal is brass, which can react with some people's skin. If yours is sensitive, our 14k gold filled and sterling silver pieces are the ones to reach for.

No — please remove this piece before swimming, and keep it out of the shower. Water and chlorine wear at plating over time. If you'd like something you never have to take off, our 14k gold filled pieces are made for exactly that.

• Australia: 3 to 7 business days with Australia Post standard, or 1 to 2 business days with express.
• Overseas: 3 to 7 business days with DHL Express (USA and New Zealand are often quicker, around 3 to 5).

We want you to adore every piece. Should you wish to exchange, you may do so for store credit within 30 days of delivery, provided your piece is unworn and in its original packaging. For reasons of hygiene, earrings, belly rings, hair clips and bespoke or engraved pieces are unable to be exchanged, and return postage for a change of heart is kindly taken care of by you. In the rare moment a piece arrives faulty, incorrect or incomplete, do simply email us at [email protected] within 7 days and we will make it right, with our apologies, by way of a replacement or refund.

Yes. Every piece comes with a 3-month warranty covering manufacturing faults and material defects. If something goes wrong that isn't normal wear and tear, get in touch and we'll make it right with a replacement or store credit. The warranty doesn't cover everyday wear and tear, snapped chains, or pieces that haven't been cared for.

Take it off before swimming, showering or exercising, and give it a gentle wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Keep it away from perfume, lotion and harsh cleaners, and store it somewhere dry. A little care goes a long way with plating.

For our overseas pieces, any local customs duties or taxes are not included at checkout and may be collected on delivery, depending on your country's rules. It's always worth a quick check with your local customs office, so there are no surprises at your door.
